We’ve updated how leaderboard stats work and added another chance to tackle tricky archive games.
Plays Are Now Attempts
The leaderboard’s Plays stat is now called Attempts. It counts every completed attempt, including games finished with hints and games where you give up.
Here’s how the stats work for both Character and Quote games:
- Attempts: Games you finish, with or without hints, plus give-ups.
- Wins: Games you solve without using any hints.
- Win rate: Your wins divided by your attempts, shown as a percentage.
- Average guesses: Unchanged. This still uses your hint-free wins.
Unfinished games do not count as attempts.
For example, 7 hint-free wins, 2 hinted finishes, and 1 give-up would give you 10 attempts, 7 wins, and a 70% win rate.
Existing saved results with hints now count toward attempts too, so you may notice a change in your win rate or leaderboard position.
Yellow Archive Tiles
The archive now makes it easier to see how you finished each game:
- Green: Solved without hints.
- Yellow: Solved with hints.
- Red: Gave up.
Try Again After 30 Days
If you finish a game with hints or give up, you can try it again 30 days after that attempt was completed.
Its archive tile will return to the unplayed appearance, and you’ll start with fresh guesses and hints. Your previous completed attempt still counts toward your leaderboard stats.
Finish the replay without hints and it becomes a green win. Use hints or give up again, and another 30-day wait begins.
Hint-free wins stay completed. Existing archive access requirements have not changed.
Replay progress is also saved separately from the previous attempt, helping you continue the right attempt when switching devices.
